The Ivy Rooms Transformation at Château Destinée
When we first discovered these three rooms, tucked away at the end of the hallway and down a few steps, they felt like the darkest corner of the château. Hidden and unloved, it was hard to imagine them as anything but a challenge. Added to that was the uneven floor, once padded and carpeted to disguise years of patchwork repairs from its attic days, and we knew we had our work cut out for us.
Levelling the floor
Pete took on one of his biggest renovation challenges yet: levelling the floor so we could lay beautiful new floorboards. Thanks to his dedication and skill, the boards went in seamlessly, transforming the space from the ground up.

Inspired by the ivy in the river courtyard
As so often happened during the renovation, necessity sparked creativity. Inspired by the lush greenery outside the windows and the gentle flow of the river, we began to imagine a theme for these rooms. With wisteria and lily already woven into other spaces, the ivy growing in the river courtyard became our muse.
Four shades of green now grace the walls and cupboard doors, complemented by green cloth bedheads and retro-modern wall hooks that echo the natural palette. The finishing touch was the wallpapered panels above the bathroom in Ivy 1, one of those details that made us fall completely in love with these rooms.

From Forgotten Corners to Guest Favourites
Our volunteers, many of whom still return to visit, share in the joy of this transformation. What was once the darkest and most forgotten corner of Château Destinée is now a cluster of vibrant, welcoming rooms that guests truly enjoy.
